HMS was represented by senior – Bradley Zamudio, Junior – Alexis Grover, Sophomore – Skyler Shaffer, and Freshmen – Reyna Tamayo and Owen Tifft. Students who were in the top 10 of their competitive category were called up on stage to be recognized. Owen Tifft was honored with 9th place in the Job Interview event. Congratulations Owen!!

The Middle School is collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House!!! Drop off your tabs with any middle school student, teacher, or at the middle school building. They will be collecting until Friday, April 14th.
The Ronald McDonald House takes the pop tabs and recycles them and receives money, which they use to help offset expenses for families of children who are receiving medical care in the hospital. Families are able to utilize the Ronald McDonald House for lodging and use family rooms in the hospitals that provide more comfort than a normal waiting room.
7th and 8th graders recently participated in the NW-AEA Math Bee at Northwestern College, in Orange City. Students competed in 5 individual tests and 1 team test.
8th grade science is working with air pressure changes. Mrs. Kroese placed a small amount of liquid in a pop can and heated it to boil point, where it turns to water vapor. The can was then flipped into a bowl of ice water. The warm water vapor is less dense than the ice cold water we submerged it into, causing the high pressure of the cold air to crush the can inwards.
Wishing our middle school students luck today, as they start
presenting their projects. They will spend two days in Ames. This time
will include the competition, meeting Iowa scientists, campus tours,
and courses. Good luck!
