The public is invited to the Elementary Vocal Concert Dress Rehearsal on Monday, March 11th in the High School Gym.
1:00-1:30 - TK/K
1:45-2:15 - 1st & 2nd grade
2:30-3:00 - 3rd & 4th grade
On Thursday, five sixth-grade students competed in the 6th Grade Math Bee in Sioux City. Almost 300 students competed in this competition. These students have been working hard for the past several months to practice and learn new skills! They represented the HMS district and community well!
8th grade students in Mrs. Kroese’s science class had the opportunity to make snowshoes. With the lack of snow, actually going snowshoeing was not an option. So students learned about how to make them and constructed their own.
Little Hawks Preschool wrapped up their pet study by having the Hartley Vet Clinic come and talk about how to take care of pets. Thanks for visiting us!
Six HMS students in grades 9-11 participated in the 1st annual War-Eagle Conference Leadership Summit. The conference is looking to build leadership capacity in our students, and the summit, led by Taylor Anderson, Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, is a first step. It was a great day of learning and sharing among the 11 War Eagle Conference schools!
The HMS FBLA Club visited Northwestern College for Raider Days last week. They were able to take a tour of the campus, attend a chapel service, meet with all the college professors, and sign the Visitor's Wall. They also met with some students and asked about their experiences. It was such a fun and informational day!

Read Across America week is bringing creativity out in the Middle School! The middle school students chose to make reading-themed snowmen to celebrate I Love to Read Month and Read Across America Week. The HMS staff will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite snowmen. What a fun way to celebrate reading!

Three dental assistant students from Western Iowa Tech visited the Little Hawk preschoolers and shared information on dental health. They read a book to the kids & used a puppet to show them how to brush their teeth properly. Thank you for visiting us!

Happenings at HMS Middle School!
Walking the halls of HMS Middle School, you will find many exciting things happening! 7th graders were working on drones in Computer Science class with Mrs. Jessen, 6th graders were learning about snakes with the O'Brien County Naturalist, 8th graders were doing a virtual field trip of the Shakespeare’s Globe Theater with Mrs. Hoaglund, and 5th graders were learning about the Civil War with an activity in Mrs. Massmann’s class.
