Students in 7th and 8th grade Language Arts Enrichment Class worked on How-To speeches over the course of the last unit in order to perfect our public speaking and collaboration skills. Our topics ranged anywhere from food to animals!
Tuesday, Dec 10th, the 7th and 8th graders, led by O'brien Country Conservationist Lindsey Kleinhesselink, worked on a STEM project during
Science class. Students built their own Projectile Launchers. It was fun watching them use problem solving to create their launchers and test
them out!
Science fair projects will be on display in our middle school gym this Friday, December 13th from 8:45-11:30 am. This is a great come and go event to see over 40 science fair projects that the middle school students have completed.
The 7th & 8th graders took part in a panel discussion with community business people. The panel members shared advice, experience, and answered questions about the importance of soft skills, such as communication, problem solving, and collaboration in the workplace.

The public is invited to attend the Veterans Day Programs at the High School and Middle School on Monday, November 11, 2024. To show your support, please join the staff and students in wearing your red, white, and blue!
During art class, 3rd grade students have been learning about texture and wax resist techniques. The 1st graders have been busy learning about cubism and applying analogous color schemes in their work. Way to go, artists!
6th Graders worked on making good observations by looking at chips. They identified qualitative and quantitative data about the various chips in their science notebooks.
Congratulations to the Cross Country teams on finishing out the regular season strong!
The boys are back-to-back Conference Champions! Individual medalists include: Aiden Bush 6th place, Easton Teal 7th place, Damian Dodge 12th place.

Congratulations to Alayna Benz (8th) and Kate Rodriguez (8th) for being accepted into the OPUS Honor Choir! Over 2400 student nominations were sent from all over the state for 720 positions in the four Opus Choirs.
The Festival will be held on November 21st at the CY Stephens Auditorium in Ames.

5th graders were learning to be creative and think outside the box- or circle. They did the 30 circle challenge where they have 3 minutes to create 30 blank circles into anything that they could think of. Then they went outside and created their favorite into a large creation on the sidewalk.
The Second graders have been busy this week! The O'Brien County Naturalist came and talked about landforms and bodies of water. The students had the opportunity to use playdough to create different landforms and bodies of water.
Additionally, they were busy wrapping up their unit on Ancient Civilizations by creating Chinese writing books and paper lanterns. The books included facts about the very first writing system. They then learned about the Chinese New Year and Diwali.
