Students at HMS Elementary work hard to earn Hawk Tickets as part of our PBIS program. Each classroom has a goal to earn 100 Hawk Tickets, and when they accomplish this goal, we love to celebrate student success! Check out some of Mrs. Swenson's TK students celebrating their 100 Hawk Tickets by bringing their stuffed animals out to recess! We are proud of all of our students for working hard each day!

March 3-7 is Read Across America Week! The Elementary and Middle School students and staff are invited to participate in the following dress-up days to celebrate!

Ms. Paulson's Chemistry class did a chemical analysis of chewing gum last week. The students had to put their skills and learning to the test by trying to determine the make up of the substance.

Lindsey, the O'Brien County Naturalist, taught TK quite a few things about dry ice. TK learned what dry ice is and some of the cool things dry ice can do. TK learned quite a few vocabulary words with this experiment, including carbon dioxide, sublimate, and hypothesis.






HMS will have a 2hr delay on Thursday, February 20th. No morning activities or AM preschool.


An update from Ms. Schuppan's classroom!


Last week, HMS Elementary had their annual Teddy Bear Picnic to celebrate the students' hard work in meeting their most recent schoolwide goal of 20,000 hawk tickets! HMS students are safe, responsible, and respectful!

HMS will be 2 hours late on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. No AM PK or activities.


Ms. Ponte's 6th-grade science students participated in a hands-on lab to see the effects of weathering and erosion in their latest science unit. They built mountains out of sand and exposed them to wind and rain to see how the sediments would be affected.







Event Update for Today, February 18.
The following events will still be happening today:
- Bowling in Sanborn will be starting at 10:00.
- Girls basketball at West Lyon will begin earlier at 6:00 instead of 7:00.
